Getting around
U4 Friedensbrücke and U6 Dresdner Straße are both about a 5-minute walk – Vienna's 1st district in 15 minutes, Schönbrunn in about 25. Tram 31 stops just around the corner and takes you directly to Schottenring at the edge of the historic center – a scenic no-transfer ride into town; lines 5 and 33 are also nearby. From the airport: CAT or S7 to the city, then metro – about 45 minutes door to door; a taxi takes ~30 minutes. Street parking via Vienna's short-term parking zone; the nearest garage is Best in Parking at Brigittaplatz, about 5 minutes' walk away.
Honestly though – in Vienna, you won't need a car.
Neighborhood
Brigittenau is one of Vienna's quiet, authentic residential districts – no tourist crowds, but real Viennese daily life. Augarten Park with its baroque gardens, playgrounds and the famous porcelain manufactory is a 5-minute stroll away. Around the corner: traditional bakeries, local cafés, supermarkets and the Danube Canal promenade for morning runs.
And for evenings out, you're spoiled for choice between two of Vienna's most charming quarters. The celebrated Karmeliterviertel – the city's beloved boho district with its farmers' market, wine bars and bistros – is a lovely 15-minute walk through the park (or one quick tram ride).Head the other way, across the Danube Canal, and you're in the elegant Servitenviertel: once a settlement of fishermen and boatmen on a Danube branch outside the city walls, it has kept its intimate, village-like charm to this day. Cobblestone lanes wind around the baroque Serviten church, lined with flower shops, French bakeries and traditional Viennese Beisl taverns – and the Sigmund Freud Museum is right around the corner.
